How Do I Prepare for a BrainView Assessment?

Preparing for a BrainView Test is straightforward, and following a few simple guidelines can ensure the process is smooth and effective. Here’s what you need to know to get ready for your BrainView Test.

Understanding the Test

The BrainView Test is a non-invasive, painless cognitive assessment designed to evaluate brain performance and physical functions. During the test, you will wear an EEG cap, similar to a swim cap, and perform a series of simple exercises while your brainwave activity is recorded. This comprehensive evaluation helps your provider gain insights into areas such as stress, memory, and cognition, aiding in the creation of a personalized treatment plan.

Day Before the Test

Avoid Stimulants: Refrain from consuming any energy drinks, more than two cups of coffee, or take any stimulant, nicotine, or certain medications that could affect brain activity within 12 hours prior to testing. This helps ensure the test results are accurate. This includes weight loss medications like phentermine, or any stimulant ADD/ADHD medications, such as Adderall® or Focalin®.

Continue Prescription Medications: Unless instructed otherwise by your doctor, continue taking your regular prescription medications as scheduled.
Clean Hair: Make sure your hair is clean and free of any hair products like gels, sprays, or oils. This helps the EEG cap fit properly and ensures better conductivity for accurate readings.

Day of the Test

Comfortable Clothing: Wear comfortable clothing to the test. This will help you remain relaxed during the assessment.
Drive to the Appointment: You can drive yourself to and from the appointment without any concerns.
Water-Soluble Gel: Be aware that a small amount of water-soluble gel will be applied to your scalp as part of the setup. This gel is easy to wash out after the test.

During the Test

Check-In: Upon arrival, check in at the front desk. A technician will guide you to a testing room where the setup will take place.
Setup: The technician will place a fitted EEG cap on your head and apply a small amount of saline gel to your scalp. Additionally, three EKG leads and a pulse oximeter will be attached.
Assessment: The test itself involves performing various simple tasks on a computer while your brain activity is recorded. The entire process takes about 45 minutes.

Wash Hair: After the test, you can easily wash out the gel from your hair.
Review Results: Your provider will review the results with you and discuss any findings, helping you understand the next steps in your care plan.

By following these preparation steps, you can ensure that your BrainView Test is conducted smoothly and provides the most accurate results possible. This valuable assessment will help your healthcare provider create a tailored treatment plan to enhance your overall well-being.
